Perinatal Forum - Screening for Down’s Syndrome 2007

The National Screening Committee has set the target for Down’s Syndrome screening from April 2007 as a detection rate of at least 75% and a false positive rate of at most 3% of the screened population.

The purpose of this follow-up meeting is to discuss the clinical implications of models which are able to achieve these targets in the West Midlands. The presentations will include an update of the 3-Stage Contingency Pilot in Stafford, and an examination of the implications of first trimester screening on laboratory, ultrasound and diagnostic services as well as on maternity care in general.
